Week 4- Maxwell Heng

This week we presented our project ideas to our fellow classmates and also a few professors. The presentation went well, and we got plenty of good feed back on our ideas. Our group sees a lot of possibilities with each idea. They all have positives, and also some glaring negatives to them. We believe we have it narrowed down to two different ideas, and a game plan is developing on the go for us. Our favorites are the Market to Market relay race, and Macie’s Place. These two are the most convenient as ReRuns is in Omaha which would be a hassle to have to travel to when we need photos, video, etc. The Iceberg agency’s plan is to take on the Market to Market idea head on, as the date for that event is coming up on October 6th. We will attend the event, get as many videos, photos, and interviews done as we can. After the event, if we decide we don’t have a good angle, or enough content for the event, then we will switch up and go with Macie’s place. With all of October, and November to work on it, we think that is plenty of time.

Pechar Week 4

This week we pitched our ideas to the class and instructors. I contributed by finding information on the Reruns Organization and constructing what I would present for that pitch idea. We all discussed and worked out the three we wanted to narrow down on, and worked fairly together to figure out the strengths and weaknesses we might have if we chose that idea. I think whichever one we choose will turn out great. We talked about all of our team members individual skill we will bring to whichever project idea we choose and how we will split things up. We also decided to try the Relay to Relay run on October 6th because if it doesn’t work out, we have connections with both the other two ideas and already gathered a lot of information on both nonprofit organizations. Choosing between the two, we may lean more towards Macy’s place because it is Lincoln based so we wouldn’t have to go to Omaha for interviews, photos, and videos. Things we may do differently in the future could be making a pro’s and con’s list for ideas so we can see aspects of positivity and negativity regarding design and any potentially problematic situations.

This week I tried to help the group organize and construct the format of our pitches.  We met before class and we were all throwing out ideas trying to generate solid content for the presentation.  My main focus was trying to figure out what would get the audience pulled in to each pitch we had.  I wanted the audience to be able to feel as strongly about each idea as we did as a group.  The hardships I have had is coming to terms with what idea we should pursue.  The Market to Market Relay is a great idea, but it requires a lot of planning prior to the event which is three and a half weeks away.  The safer route would be to pick either Macie’s Place or ReRuns R Fun.  We have connections to both organizations already and Macie’s Place is located in Lincoln so it has a convenient location.  Individually, I am going to do some more research on the Market to Market Relay and figure out where each checkpoint is and what media format we should do at each.  I am also going to work on figuring out who to contact for possible interviews if we go through with this idea.  Overall it was a productive week.

Elsie Stormberg Week 3

This week at Iceberg Agency we spent a lot of time brainstorming ideas for our multimedia project. On our list of possible ideas we have everything from thrift shops and international internships to service animals and their humans. I think something that we will struggle with before we pitch our ideas is shaving off a few of our potential stories. Once we had a solid list, we decided who was going to research what and then we split off. When we meet before the pitches we will decide which two or three are our strongest and begin solidifying our presentation. We also discussed when we can make time to meet to go over what we want to present on Wednesday. Although we are all very busy but it seems as though everyone in the group is fairly flexible and willing to make whatever we need to do as a group work. I am very excited to work on this project because my group is full of very hard working, creative people and I think we really all know what we want to get out of this: a multimedia story we can utilize in our portfolios to show future employers.

Week 3- Maggie DeGarmo

At Iceberg agency this week we discussed possibilities for our pitch on Tuesday. We started by throwing out some ideas that we already had and included the ones that we thought of along the way. I was able to contribute by thinking of some project ideas such as focusing on a global eye witness student or a student who had studied abroad and worked a really interesting internship while there. It was hard at first to brainstorm ideas because there are so many endless opportunities when it comes to what we focus on. I researched some interesting places and groups that we could work with either on campus or in Lincoln which gave me some ideas but none that were very concrete. In the future I would probably look at more examples of interactive and informative websites that may give me a good idea or point me in the right direction to find something. Once we all came up with a solid list of ideas we narrowed it down to the ones we thought were the best to look into. We each chose one to individually research and gather information on which we’ll share with each other before the pitch. Once we got going it was much easier to come up with things talking amongst one another rather than on our own.

Week 3- Maxwell Heng

This week our group, The Iceberg Agency, brainstormed ideas for our project we will pursue this semester. We came up with a few ideas that involved charities, animals, and a fun run that is in Nebraska. My idea to the group was the annual Market to Market run. This is a team relay containing 8 different team members that run from the Old Market in Omaha to the Haymarket in Lincoln. My assignment is to research more about the Market to Market relay race and provide the details to my group. Our team is meeting next Monday to put together a PowerPoint for class. The PowerPoint will contain a few of our ideas for our interactive project we will be working on throughout the semester. We will present this PowerPoint in class in hopes that our peers will provide positive feedback and give us an idea of what project we should pursue. Hopefully by this time next week we will have a good idea of what we want our project to be about.

Sarah Pechar: Week 3 Blog

The ideas I came up with for our semester project are ReRuns R Fun, Husker Hockey, and UNL Ice Skating. ReRuns R Fun would be an awesome project to do because my mom helped ground the company. Her best friend’s husband had cancer so she and the wife, Anna worked together to create ReRuns. They did not anticipate it blowing up into the Nation’s largest nonprofit organization! It is now in the process of becoming an online app to buy and sell. Husker Hockey or UNL Ice Skating would be a fun project to do too because of it’s relation to our ad agency name. It would also give us the opportunity to learn more about not so common clubs on campus. We discussed doing a 360 video but may change because none of us have worked with 360 video before but are also up for the challenge! Everyone has contributed such great ideas and I am excited to see where the class take us this semester.

This week in the group I helped generate ideas for our group’s pitch for the upcoming week.  Individually I tried to help the group think of the big picture for each idea and what media we would have to accumulate to make the interactive website work.  I came up with the idea to research into emotional support animals and the effect they have on students lives here on campus. I am going to contact SDA and students that live on campus and get their views on how their lives have changed since having an emotional support animal. I am also going to research a second idea which is study abroad opportunities and the experiences that students have had. The goal is to find interesting students who had either an interesting internship or went abroad possibly in a third world country.  The most challenging thing I have encountered this week was generating ideas that would work big picture wise.  Creating an interactive website with media that supports the idea is challenging when you’re trying to think out of the box but still be practical.  I plan to work on the powerpoint and meet with the group before Wednesday to regroup and plan our pitch before class.
